Cinemark, the nation’s third-largest exhibitor, announced Tuesday that it has extended Tim Warner’s contract as chief executive officer through early 2016, as well as promoted Robert Copple to president and chief operating officer.

Copple will continue to pursue the duties under his existing title as CFO until the company hires a replacement.

Both execs have been with Cinemark for nearly two decades each.

“Robert Copple, as CFO, has emerged as a key leader of Cinemark, contributing to its strong financial performance and helping implement some great strategic acquisitions and partnerships,” said Cinemark chairman Lee Roy Mitchell.

Warner added: “In his new leadership role, Robert will remain engaged in the day-to-day operations of the company and will be more available to help execute global strategic initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Warner and the board committee can choose to lengthen his contract as CEO further at the end of this most recent extension.

Cinemark operates 475 theaters totaling 5,504 screens in the U.S., Brazil, Argentina and 10 other Latin American countries.
