Online ticketing site Fandango has added five new exhibitors — Malco Theatres, Frank Theatres, Goodrich Quality Theaters, NCG Cinemas and Paragon Theaters — with more than 1,000 screens.
Fandango said the deals give it coverage of more than 23,000 U.S. screens, representing 83% of the nation’s theaters.
The company made the announcement at CinemaCon on Wednesday, a day after disclosing its exclusive multi-year renewal with Cinemark, representing more than 4,400 U.S. screens. It has also formed a partnership with Veezi cinema management software for independent movie theaters to use Fandango.
Malco has 32 locations in Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas and Kentucky; Frank operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida; Goodrich has screens in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri; NCG operates theaters in Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, and Georgia; and Paragon has theaters in Florida, Minnesota and Virginia.
Fandango, an NBCUniversal subsidiary, said 47% of its 2014 movie ticket sales have been made on mobile devices. It also said it has topped 40 million downloads of its apps.
