Atlas Independent will produce “Sanctuary,” a film about three documentarians who travel to South America to investigate a town that mysteriously disappeared from the map and wind up getting trapped in the ultimate enigma: an immense concrete structure with no entrances or exits.

Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (“Apollo 18,” “Open Grave”) will direct and Ryne Douglas Pearson (“Knowing”) will pen the script.

“We intend to make a commercial horror film with one of the leading directors of the genre at the helm,” Atlas Independent’s William Green and Aaron Ginsburg said in a statement.

This will be the third collaboration between Atlas Independent and Lopez-Gallego, following “Open Grave” and “The Man on Carrion Road.” Production will begin in April.

Highland Film Group (HFG) will handle worldwide sales and will introduce the film to international buyers at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.

Lopez-Gallego is represented by WME, Atlas Entertainment, and attorney Carlos Goodman.
