PARIS– After closing a North American deal with Warner Bros. Pictures at the start of the AFM, Studiocanal clinched a flurry of pre-sales on Zac Efron starrer “We Are Your Friends,” which is now almost sold out.
Studiocanal, which showed buyers the first images of the film, pre-sold it to Latin America (Sun), South Africa (Mnet), Benelux (DFW), Eastern Europe (Freeman); Turkey (Fabula), Italy (Notorious), Middle East (Salim Ramia &Co) Scandi (Svensk) and South Asia, among other territories.
“Having the energetic and passionate Max Joseph with us on the stand early in the market enabled our clients to capture the spirit of this edgy generational movie,” said Anna Marsh, Studiocanal’s head of international sales. “And having Warner Bros on board for North America is a real asset; we are thrilled to be working with them early on.”
Directed by Max Joseph, the film stars Efron (“Neighbors”), Emily Ratajkowski (“Gone Girl”) and Wes Bentley (“Interstellar”). Pic chronicles the journey of 23-year-old aspiring DJ who tries to find his voice in the electro music scene and bonds with an older DJ.
“We Are Your Friends” is produced by Working Title Films and financed by Studiocanal.
Studiocanal will distribute the film in its territories: U.K, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
