AFM: Shout! Factory Nabs Takashi Miike’s ‘Over Your Dead Body’

Shout! Factory has acquired  North American rights to Takashi Miike’s “Over Your Dead Body,” which is screening today at the American Film Market.

Deal covers digital, home entertainment, broadcast and theatrical for cross-platform releases in the U.S. and Canada.

Mongrel International repped the rights in partnership with Celluloid Dreams.

The movie premiered in the Vanguard Section at Toronto and went to play at Sitges,  Etrange Festival, and Busan.  Pic has also been selected at the AFI Festival.

Shout! Factory plans a strategic rollout of the film on a variety of entertainment distribution platforms and in all packaged media in 2015.

The pact was unveiled today by Charlotte Mickie, president of Mongrel International and Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos.

Takashi Miike is unquestionably one of the preeminent filmmakers of his generation, and his uniquely creative take on this classic Japanese ghost story will both delight his longtime fans and earn him new ones.  We’re excited to be in business with him again and to begin the first of what will hopefully be many partnerships with Mongrel International,” state Shout! Factory’s founders.

Shout! Factory previously handled Miike’s “Audition.”
