Bufo, the production company behind Finland’s Oscar entry, “Concrete Night,” is on board to produce “White Point,” a Canada-set car chase movie.
Akseli Tuomivaara, a Finnish up-and-coming director who made his debut with “Corso,” is set to direct the movie, which will be penned by Vesa Virtanen.
Mark Lwoff, who is producing the pic with Misha Jaari at Bufo, told Variety he was looking for a Canadian co-producer and sales agent.
Set during wintertime in Canada, the high-concept pic turns on a hitman involved in a wacky car chase and caught in an icy no-man’s land.
Cast will soon be unveiled.
Repped by Film Republic, “Concrete Night” world-premiered at Toronto and will go on to play at Palm Springs and the Scandinavian Film Festival L.A. It recently played at Camerimage in Poland and the Chicago fest. “Concrete Night”’s helmer Pirjo Honkasalo won filmmaker of the year at the Finnish Film Week Awards.
Lensing is expected to begin in late 2015 or early 2016.
