Paramount Pictures’ “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” has received the AARP’s inaugural”Movies for Grownups” seal of approval.

The org’s new honor, an extension of the Movies for Grownups platform that launched in 2002 and includes the annual Movies for Grownups Awards, recognizes films that appeal to the 50+ audience.

“Returning the beloved Tom Clancy character of Jack Ryan to the big screen, the film features performances by 50+ talents including director and co-star Sir Kenneth Branagh and co-star Kevin Costner,” AARP Media senior VP and editorial director Myrna Blyth said. “We believe the film will hold strong appeal for the 50+ demographic, which is responsible for one in four of all opening weekend ticket sales.”

The actioner, which admittedly stars a 33-year-old Chris Pine as the famous CIA analyst, will be promoted on AARP’s website, daily digital news alert and social media platforms. Screenings will be held for AARP members in eight markets across the U.S. leading up to the film’s nationwide release on Friday.
