A24 and DirectTV have acquired all U.S rights to Charlize Theron’s “Dark Places,” based on the novel by “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn.

Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Tye Sheridan and Corey Stoll also star. The film was directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner from his adaptation.

Theron plays a survivor of the brutal killing of her family as a child who’s forced to confront the events of that day by a secret society obsessed with solving crimes.

Producers are Cathy Schulman, Matthew Rhodes, Azim Bolkiah, Matt Jackson, Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Charlize Theron and Stephane Marsil. Executive producers include Jeff Rice, Jose Levy, Matthias Ehrenberg, Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Tobin Armbrust, Jillian Longnecker, Ginger Sledge and Peter Safran.

“Dark Places” is presented by Exclusive Media. Production companies are Denver & Delilah Films, Hugo Productions, and Mandalay Pictures production.

A24 negotiated rights for the film with WME Global and announced the deal on the third day of AFM.

A24 and DirecTV have also partnered on  Atom Egoyan’s “Captive,” starring Ryan Reynolds, and Julius Avery’s directorial debut “Son of a Gun,” starring Ewan Macgregor and Brenton Thwaites.
