Scandinavian major Svensk Filmindustri has inked a three-year output deal with Swedish indie StellaNova Film and producer Lena Rehnberg.
Rehnberg and StellaNova produced Swedish box office hit “Waltz for Monica,” above, and several other hits in the past five years, including “Once Upon a Time in Phuket” (En Gang i Phuket).
The first film in the deal is the romantic comedy “Love Is a Drug,” starring Izabella Scorupco. A Christmas theatrical release is planned for Sweden.
“I am very excited about strengthening my relationship with Svensk,” said Rehnberg. “They are very ambitious about their future plans.”
“Lena Rehnberg and StellaNova Film is a very strong force within the Swedish independent film production community and we are thrilled to have her as a partner,” said Jonas Fors, SF CEO. “Her films have an undisputed track-record at the Swedish box-office, so it is of course very exciting to represent her films locally and on the international market.”
