LevelK has closed a flurry of deals on Josh Lawson’s “The Little Death” which had its world premiere at Toronto in the Discovery section.
The movie was acquired for Europe’s big territories: Germany, Switzerland and Austria (WeltKino), France and Spain (Wild Bunch), the U.K. (Kaleidoscope). It was also picked up for Greece (Seven Films) and Taiwan (Joint Entertainment). LevelK is currently in negotiations for multiple territories at Toronto.
“We headed for Toronto knowing that we brought something special, but still it’s been overwhelming to experience the reactions on ‘The Little Death,'” said LevelK’s Head of Sales Natja Rosner. “Luckily buyers seem to see through the kinky surface to find the depth and quality of the film. Lawson’s humor is universal and the response really shows this.”
Shot in Sydney, “The Little Death” is an edgy sex comedy depicting the secret lives of five suburban couples. It stars an ensemble of up-and-comers, including Damon Herriman (“The Water Diviner”), Bojana Novakovic (“Burning Man”), Kate Mulvany (“The Great Gatsby”) and Josh Lawson (“House of Lies”).
“The Little Death” was produced by Jamie Hilton, Michael Petroni and Matt Reeder for See Pictures. Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Josh Pomeranz, Viv Scanu and Stephen Boyle exec produced. The movie was financed by Ticket to Ride in association with Head Gear Film, Screen Australia, Night Kitchen Productions, Red Apple, Spectrum Films and Metrol Technology.
eOne Films Australia are set to release locally September 25th 2014. LevelK handles international sales & distribution.
