Esche Steps Down as Co-CEO of Bavaria Film Group

Bavaria's 'Beloved Sisters' plays in competition at Berlin Film Fest

LONDON — Matthias Esche, the co-CEO of Bavaria Film Group, is to leave the German production company at the end of the month.

Esche joined the Munich-based company in 2006. He had previously been CEO of Hamburg-based production company Polyphon Group. Bavaria’s co-CEO Achim Rohnke will continue to lead the company alone until Esche’s successor is appointed.

Bavaria produced Domink Graf’s “Beloved Sisters” (pictured), which will screen in competition at the Berlin Film Festival. The pic is about the relationship between the poet Friedrich Schiller and two beautiful sisters.

Bavaria also holds a 50% stake in international sales company Global Screen, which reps “Beloved Sisters” in Berlin.

Bavaria’s recent productions also include Michael Caine-starrer “Mr. Morgan’s Last Love” and Samuel L. Jackson starrer “Reasonable Doubt.”

The company owns Bavaria Film Studios, which is one of Germany’s major production facilities. It recently hosted action adventure “Big Game,” which stars Samuel L. Jackson.
