After bowing at Toronto’s Midnight Madness, Marvin Kren’s Austrian horror thriller “The Station” has been snapped up by distributors, underscoring the crossover potential of European director-driven genre films.

“The Station,” sold by Rezo, has been acquired by CDI Films (Latin America), Madman (Australia, New Zealand), StudioCanal (U.K.), the Klockworks (Japan), Praesens Films (Switzerland), Atnine (South Korea) and Sundream (Hong Kong).

IFC bought the film following its Toronto premiere.

Set in the German Alps, “The Station” follows three scientists who discover that a glacier is leaking a liquid that appears to be affecting local wildlife at a genetic level.
