Paramount has had a blast minting “fun coupons” for “Wolf of Wall Street” at the domestic box office.
Marking the fourth Oscar-nominated best picture nominee from 2013 to reach nine figures, Paramount’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” is poised to cross $100 million through Wednesday. Pic’s Stateside cume currently stands at $99.5 million.
“Wolf” is at the top of the Oscar pic nominees at the box office — behind Warner Bros.’ “Gravity,” which has cumed more than $260 million domestically, followed by Sony’s pair, “American Hustle” and “Captain Phillips,” with $128 million and $106 million, respectively.
The film received five nominations including pic, director (Martin Scorsese), actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), supporting actor (Jonah Hill) and adapted screenplay. Paramount released “Wolf” on Christmas Day, and so far, the film stands as Scorsese’s fourth-highest grossing movie behind “The Departed,” “Shutter Island” and “The Aviator” (soon to pass the latter).
“Wolf” still has some gas left in its tank: Last weekend, the film grossed $5.6 million in its fifth frame.
