As part of its commitment to leading awards coverage, Variety held a cocktail reception at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills Monday night. The event was attended by studio representatives, publicists and award strategists and offered Claudia Eller, Variety’s Editor in Chief, Film, an opportunity to introduce members of her staff who will be focused on awards coverage this season.
“We had a great year last awards season,” Eller said to the gathered crowd. “And this year… forget it. We are going to knock it out of the park.”
Eller went on to preview some of the plans for the next few months, including “amazing editorial” covers, increased video on the Variety website, and the newly launched Artisans coverage, focusing on below the line talent from films. She also teased “some new endeavors happening that are going to enhance our award coverage,” which include an exclusive partnership with Reuters.
A popular spot at the party was the photobooth that offered attendees the opportunity to put themselves on the cover of Variety, provided by L.A. Pix Photo Booth.
