Vanessa Redgrave, Rosamund Pike Honored at Women in Film and TV Awards

LONDON — Vanessa Redgrave received the lifetime achievement award at the Women in Film and TV Awards Friday in London, while Rosamund Pike picked up the performance award for David Fincher’s thriller “Gone Girl.”

Redgrave’s award, which was presented by playwright David Hare, recognized her five-decade-long career, which has included more than 80 films, six Oscar nominations and an Academy Award win for supporting actress for the title role in the 1977 film “Julia.”

Lyse Doucet was presented with the achievement of the year award for her reporting from Syria.

The producer award went to Katie Swinden for her work on “Marvellous,” “Peaky Blinders” and “Luther.”

Screenwriter Lucy Kirkwood picked up the writing award for Sky’s drama “The Smoke,” whilst Consolata Boyle won the craft award for her costume design in films including “Philomena,” “The Iron Lady” and “Testament of Youth.”

Location manager Sue Quinn was presented with the project management award in recognition of her work on films including the “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Harry Potter” franchises. One of Quinn’s achievements was to arrange for Tom Cruise to land a military helicopter in London’s Trafalgar Square for “The Edge of Tomorrow.”

The presenter award was given to comedic presenting duo Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, recognizing their work on the popular BBC series “The Great British Bake Off.”

The business award went to Jane Turton, managing director of All3Media.

The news and factual award went to producers Sara Hardy and Blue Ryan for their documentary “The Unspeakable Crime: Rape,” which is now being used to train people working with victims of rape and other sexual crimes.

WFTV CEO Kate Kinninmont said: “Year after year these awards celebrate the talented women in film and television, and this year’s winners are a superb group of creative and outstanding women.”
