“Rocks In My Pockets” tells the story of five women from Baumane’s family, and their battles with madness. The production is a personal story from the animator best known for films addressing issues such as women’s rights, sex and how it feels to go to the dentist, as well as her long-term collaboration with animator Bill Plympton.
The film premiered as the first animated pic in the international competition of the Karlovy Vary Film Fest, and is currently being released in the U.S. by Zeitgeist Films, with an extended run at the IFC Center in New York. World sales are being handled by Polish agency, New Europe Film Sales.
The deadline for submitting foreign-language candidates is Oct. 1. The nominations will be announced Jan. 15 and the awards will be held Feb. 22.
