Oscar Confirms 4 Producers for ‘Wolf of Wall Street’

After a study to determine producer credits, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joey McFarland and Emma Tillinger Koskoff are the four producers eligible for Oscar consideration on “Wolf of Wall Street.”

The Academy rules usually limit it to three producers. When Oscar nominations were announced Jan. 16, “Wolf” was listed as a best pic nominee with the note that the individual producers had yet to be determined.

In onscreen credits, there is a fifth producer, Riza Aziz, who is McFarland’s partner in Red Granite. The company issued a statement immediately following the Academy’s decision, saying, “We are thrilled that the Academy has recognized the invaluable contributions of  Marty, Leo, Joey and Emma on behalf of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ Riza Aziz and Red Granite remain honored to be part of the production team.”

Academy rules state that a film can have three or fewer producers, but the producers branch executive committee “has the right, in what it determines to be a rare and extraordinary circumstance, to name any additional qualified producer as a nominee.”

Oscars will be presented March 2 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on the ABC Television Network.

With all due respect to Lauren Bacall, there’s always been a bit more to whistling than putting your lips together and blowing.
