Matthew McConaughey will be this year’s American Cinematheque honoree, the org has announced.

The Oscar winner will receive the award on Oct. 21 at the Cinematheque’s annual gala, to be held at the Beverly Hilton.

“Matthew McConaughey is the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be — an adventurous, joyous and ever-growing talent combined with matinee-idol looks and an unshakeable sense of who he is and what he stands for,” said Rick Nicita, American Cinematheque chairman.

McConaughey won the lead actor Oscar earlier this year for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” and later had a hit on TV in HBO’s “True Detective.” He next stars in Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar.”
