LONDON — Hollywood acting coach Bernie Hiller has given his views on the Oscar-nommed thesps in an interview with the Daily Mail’s showbiz reporter Baz Bamigboye, published on Friday.

Hiller’s winner for best actor is Matthew McConaughey in “Dallas Buyers Club.” “Some of his best moments come when he’s not talking at all, particularly when he’s alone in his car, crying like a frightened child,” Hiller says.

His choice for actress is Cate Blanchett in “Blue Jasmine.” “Despite her being vain and self-obsessed, you are completely involved in Jasmine’s story and moved by her plight. She glides beautifully between panic, delusions, hilarious insensitivity and devastating loss,” he says.

Hiller tells Bamigboye: “Art is, of course, subjective, but that being said, the artist whom I believe is worthy of an Oscar win is the one who is playing a role that is so interesting, complex and definitive that I cannot see anyone else playing this part. They also need to have a scene that takes your breath away.”
