‘The Fault in Our Stars’ to Get Bollywood Remake Treatment From Fox India

HONG KONG – India’s Fox Star Studios is to produce a local remake of hit cancer romance film “The Fault in Our Stars.”

The company, a joint venture between 21st Century Fox stable-mates, 20th Century Fox and pay-TV giant Star India, has yet to set director or cast.

“The story resonates with the emotions of today’s youth and has found universal appeal. We are excited to adapt the film for Bollywood and can’t wait to get started,” said FSS box Vijay Singh, in a Times of India story tweeted by FSS.

The Scott Neustadter, Michael H. Weber- and John Green-scripted story, based on Green’s novel, revolves around a 16-year-old cancer patient, who falls in love with a former basketball player, who is also a cancer survivor.

The original film, distributed by Fox 2000 in May, grossed $123 million in North America and a further $85.3 million in international territories. It released in India on July 4 grossing a modest $936,000.
