Simon Pegg comedy “Absolutely Anything” will get a release in China following an acquisition by HuaHua Media and Beijing YueHua Entertainment.
The picture, which is currently in post-production, is represented by GFM Films.
Kate Beckinsale and Rob Riggle appear in the film, while several of the Monty Python actors voice the galactic aliens who give Pegg’s character the ability to do absolutely anything. The late Robin Williams voices Pegg’s dog.
The film was written by former Python Terry Jones and Gavin Scott and directed by Jones, with production by Ben Timlett and Bill Jones’ Bill and Ben Productions.
The film will be completed and delivered in February 2015, and its first wide release will be in the U.K. through Lionsgate UK in Spring or Summer 2015.
“With the growing importance of the Chinese Box Office having them as our distributor partners in the territory is a big plus for the film,” said Timlett and Bussi in a statement.
Huahua Media and Yuehue Entertainment are both co-producers with China Film Group in the Paramount Pictures 3D fantasy movie “Marco Polo”.
