SEOUL — Box office sensation “Roaring Currents” came out on top at the 51st Grand Bell Awards, one of the three major film awards ceremonies in South Korea.

The film took four prizes including best picture and best actor for the veteran Choi Min-sik.

Other winners at the ceremony at the Korean Broadcasting System Hall included “The Attorney,” with three wins and “The Pirates” with two.

At a press conference before the ceremony there was an exchange of angry words between the present and former organizers of the awards. The live broadcast on KBS went off without a hitch.

Many of the participants wore a yellow ribbon symbolizing their solidarity for the still unresolved Sewol ferry disaster, and this was reflected in some of the award winners’ comments.
