HONG KONG – Johnny Depp is scheduled to make a promotional visit to China at the end of the month.

It is believed to be his first business trip to the country.

He will visit the Chinese capital Beijing for two days to promote “Transcendence,” which has backing from Warner Bros., Alcon Entertainment and U.S.-Chinese group DMG.

The film is set for a near simultaneous release in North America and China, with Warner Bros handling distribution stateside from April 17. DMG handling China will announce a date shortly.

The pic is the directing debut of cinematographer Wally Pfister. It also stars Kate Mara, Paul Bettany and Morgan Freeman.
