Is Ellen DeGeneres on the Move … Again?

Few stars in Tinseltown are stricken with a more severe case of the Real Estate Fickle than Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi. This year alone, the famously itchy-footed couple sold a pristine midcentury residence in Beverly Hills for $20 million, forked over nearly $40 million for a Holmby Hills estate that they flipped six months later for $49.5 million to tech billionaire Sean Parker, and shelled out $16 million for a pair of adjacent condos in the newly constructed Beverly West tower along the Wilshire Corridor.

Now, not even six months since they acquired the condos, Your Mama hears from a source deep inside the Platinum Triangle real estate game that the perpetually peripatetic pair might like to move again. So the scuttlebutt goes, DeGeneres is feeling a little nostalgic, and has her real estate eyes set on a stylish house in the Nichols Canyon area that she previously owned. The house, a low-slung, 4,300-square-foot-plus pad that was re-worked in the early 2000s by superstar architects Marmol Radziner, sits on a gated, 1.63-acre promontory. DeGeneres bought the property from commercials director David Ramser in late 2005 for an undisclosed amount, and sold it, along with a neighboring house she also owned, in September 2007 for $10 million to — so we hear from good sources — an heiress to a Washington State window-manufacturing fortune.

For the record, the Nichols Canyon house is not listed on the open market, and for all this property gossip knows, the de Rossi-DeGenereses will spend the next three decades snug as two blissful bugs in a cashmere rug in their swanky Wilshire Corridor condos. But, honestly, and just between us chickens, given their merry-go-round real estate history, we seriously doubt it. Stay tuned …
