YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Thanks to Betty Beantown we were kindly directed this a.m. to a brief update in the Boston Globe about the stately mansion well-compensated supermodel Giselle Bündchen and her professional pigskin tosser hubby Tom Brady are in the process of building in the high-fallutin’ Boston suburb of Brookline.
The couple purchased the 5.2 acre property in an off-market deal in May 2013 for $4.5 million and — so the scuttlebutt we’ve heard goes — hired the same L.A.-based mansion specialist architect who custom-designed their former mansion in Los Angeles to do-up their big new abode outside Boston.
So the reportage goes, approved plans call for a 14,317-square-foot, stone built traditional with five bedrooms and four bathroom, including a nursery and master suite with his ‘n’ her closets, a nursery plus guest/staff quarters above the garage. (Does it strike any of the other children that four bathrooms seems an unlikely small number of poopers in a 14,000-plus-square-foot mansion? Anyhoodles…) Plans also indicate formal living and dining rooms, a wine storage room, a yoga studio and a library with an interior balcony that apparently and unconventionally overlooks the couple’s state-of-the-art fitness room.
Even those with only a wispy interest in the celebrity real estate world know Mister Brady and Miz Bündchen sold their home in Los Angeles a few months ago for a whopping $40 million to Dr. Dre and Nicole Threat. (Even more recently, supermodel turned Emmy winning reality tv queen Heidi Klum sold her house directly across the street for $24 million to a real estate mogul).
And until last year, when they sold it for $9.2 or $9.271 million, depending on where one looks, the couple kept a Charles River view penthouse condo atop an elegant limestone mansion on Beacon Street in Boston’s Back Bay ‘hood that listing details from the time of the sale indicate has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and six fireplaces in 5,311 square feet.
