A Beverly Hills estate with an impressive show business provenance has come available as an off-market whisper listing, with an undisclosed asking price. The 1.5-acre Benedict Canyon property, currently owned by Mindy Williamson Peters, the fourth ex-wife of Rodeo Drive hairdresser-to-the-stars-turned-blockbuster movie producer Jon Peters, was previously owned by William Asher, Kate Jackson and saxophonist Kenny G, who sold it to tennis great Pete Sampras in the late 1990s for $2.5 million. Sampras wed actress Bridgette Wilson on the property in 2000, before he sold it to Jon Peters in August 2004 for exactly $3 million.
As it turns out, this isn’t Miz Williamson Peters’ first ride on the real estate merry-go-round with this particular property, which has been on and off both the sale and rental markets since at least 2011. Last on the open market in September 2013 for $4.8 million — reduced from its much higher original $5.5 million pricetag — the estate also was listed for lease from early January through early April at $25,000 per month.
Secluded behind a towering wall of trees and set down a long, gated driveway, the 5,076-square-foot, two-story house — listing details describe it as Country French — was originally built in 1976, and contains four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms that include a master suite with dual bathrooms and closets.
There are, per listing details, vaulted and beamed ceilings, wood floors and custom built-ins throughout the main living areas that include a living room with fireplace, dining room, den, family room with wet bar and a cook-friendly kitchen.
The famously lavish-living Peters has owned scads of posh properties in and around Los Angeles, including a Beverly Park mansion where, he once told Vanity Fair, he kept more than 100 animals; as well as the illustrious King Vidor Estate in Beverly Hills where the current owner, Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud, would like to build a mall-sized mega-mansion, over the protests of his rich and famous neighbors. Earlier this year, Peters plunked down $3.195 million for a high-floor condo with three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in one of the many super-luxe condo towers that line L.A.’s Wilshire Corridor.
