Liam Hemsworth Quietly Acquires Malibu Compound (EXCLUSIVE)

BUYER: Liam Hemsworth
SELLER: Matthew Wilder
LOCATION: Malibu, CA
PRICE: $6,814,350
SIZE: 1,980 square feet (as per assessor) 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Last year his older brother, action flick actor Chris Hemsworth, laid out $4.8 million for fellow Australian Paul Hogan’s freshly rehabbed estate in Malibu’s Point Dume area. Now — so swears real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak on her back stock of Lee Press On Nails — young Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth recently and surreptitiously shelled out a very grown up $6,814,000 for singer/songwriter Matthew Wilder’s multi-acre Malibu compound.

The 24-year old “Hunger Games” beau hunk — he’s tongue wagging twerker Miley Cyrus’s former fiancée, in case you didn’t know — started up his ladder of fame and fortune on a series of Australian television programs before he headed to Hollywood in 2009. In addition to a starring role in the billion dollar “Hunger Games” franchise, the Teen Choice and People’s Choice winner has also had clearly very lucrative lead roles in a handful of movies including “Paranoia,” and “Empire State” and “The Expendables 2.”

Matthew Wilder, in case the name doesn’t ring any fame bells, was launched in to one-hit-wonder stardom with the bouncy and almost ludicrously optimistic 1983 hit “Break My Stride.” He went on to earn a fortune writing and producing pop ditties for the likes of No Doubt, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and — coincidentally enough — Miley Cyrus in her Hannah Montana days and, in the late 1990s, was nominated for an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe for his professional part in Disney’s animated money-maker, “Mulan.”

Your Mama dissed and discussed the property at some length nearly a year ago when Mister Wilder first listed the almost 7.5 acre spread with an asking price of $6.85 million so we’ll suffice to stick to just a few brief details. A long, gated drive crosses a creek and gently winds its way deep in to the compound to the front of 1950s era ranch-style residence worked over in a modern-organic manner with polished concrete and reclaimed wood floors, entire walls of multi-paned windows and doors and new-fangled high-tech systems.

The three bedroom and three bathroom residence is of undetermined size — the L.A. County Tax Man pegs it at 1,980 but that seems a bit on the wee side to Your Mama — and includes a over-sized entrance gallery combination living/dining room with brick fireplace, an adjoining sitting room, a step down den with catty-corner fireplace, and an eat-in kitchen with small lounge and commercial grade appliances as well as a walk-in fridge with frosted glass doors.

The back of the house opens to a roomy, multi-level deck that steps down to a simple, rectangular swimming pool and large, well-watered lawn. Other features of the property, as per listing details, include a professional grade recording studio, a detached writing studio, and a concrete barn/gallery.

Some of Mister Hemsworth’s new neighbors include a bevy of Emmy winning Hollywood power players like writer/producer Richard Appel, writer/producer Sam Simon, and super-producer Marcy Carsey.
