With “Veronica Mars” hitting theaters Friday, the marshmallows have hit Twitter hard.

During the past week, “Veronica Mars” saw more than 42,000 mentions, according to social media research firm Fizziology. 56% of these were positive, one percent were mixed and the remaining 43% were from neutral industry sources headlines.

Of course, almost all mentions of the film came from the show’s dedicated fans, showing that this group is extremely passionate about the sleuth series.

The “Veronica Mars” social media buzz leaned heavily female, dominating 67% of the chatter. Another TV show-turned-movie, “Entourage,” is also making waves on Twitter with 20,000 mentions this past week. Not surprisingly, the majority of this series’ buzz comes from males at 76%.
