Boyhood Parody Video: Kittens Grow Up Over 12 Weeks in #Cathood

Every popular new movie needs its own puppy or kitten parody video, but independent films don’t always get as much attention as blockbusters in the knockoff department. Variety deputy editor Pat Saperstein thought Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood” was ripe for a video homage, and tweeted her suggestion to the Pet Collective. The Fremantle-owned digital animal channel took just a few days to create “Boyhood – Cute Kitten Version,” also known as #Cathood — directed by Richard “Linklitter.”

Since following a cat for 12 years would take it into old age, the Pet Collective settled on 12 weeks of watching a fluffy kitten tussle with its siblings and face fighting owners — complete with somber title cards and heartfelt music just like in the “Boyhood” trailer.
