Legendary Entertainment has recruited Greg Siegel, previously head of development for Internet video firm Break Media, as senior VP of development and production for its digital unit.

Siegel reports to Tom Lesinski, president of digital content and distribution. The hire is the latest move to expand into the digital realm by Bruce Rosenblum, the former head of Warner Bros. TV who joined Legendary last summer as president of TV and digital media.

Siegel will oversee development and production of premium original content for digital distribution channels including subscription and ad-supported video-on-demand. He also is tasked with striking talent and producer deals and to oversee the company’s digital entertainment projects.

Most recently, Siegel was senior VP of entertainment development for Break Media. Last October, Alloy Digital and Break Media announced an agreement to merge in a 50-50 partnership to form a new Internet video company, called Defy Media. At Break, Siegel was in charge entertainment partnerships and film and television initiatives.

From 1996 to 2007, Siegel was a talent agent at Endeavor. In 2008, he left the percentery and founded Internet startup VidMe, a private online video-sharing service.
