NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’ Rises Tuesday; Special ‘Bachelor’ Boosts ABC

NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” was the dominant program in Tuesday’s ratings race, matching its August high and carrying the net to an easy victory in key demos.

The Peacock opened with “Food Fighters” (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall), which was up a tenth for a three-week demo high. And from 9 to 11 p.m., the net swept all categories with “America’s Got Talent” (2.1/7 in 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall), which was up 5% from last week’s national average and 11% above its prelim score (1.9). “Talent” hasn’t done a higher 18-49 rating since a July 29 installment earned a 2.4.

At ABC, a special two-hour episode of Monday reality series “Bachelor in Paradise” (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) outperformed in the demo every episode of “Extreme Weight Loss” to air in the 8-10 p.m. time period since its May 27 premiere; it also bested every “Weight Loss” in total viewers. The Alphabet closed the night with the second week of limited-run news series “20/20: From Hell” (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall), which was down a tenth from its premiere.

CBS aired repeats of crime dramas “NCIS” (1.0/4 in 18-49, 8.9 million viewers overall), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) and “Person of Interest” (0.7/2 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall).

Fox went with encores of “Family Guy” (0.7/3 in 18-49, 1.6 million viewers overall), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.4 million viewers overall), “New Girl” (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.3 million viewers overall) and “The Mindy Project” (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.4 million viewers overall).

And there was little interest in the CW special “iHeart Radio Album Release Party with Maroon 5” (0.2/1 in 18-49, 0.7 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 1.8/6; ABC and Univision, 1.2/4; CBS, 0.8/3; Telemundo, 0.7/2; Fox, 0.6/2.

In total viewers: NBC, 7.8 million; CBS, 6.8 million; ABC, 4.5 million; Univision, 2.9 million; Telemundo, 1.6 million; Fox, 1.4 million; CW, 0.6 million.
