Variety to Honor Martin Scorsese at Unite4:Humanity Event

Demi Lovato and John Sykes will also be feted at charity gala

Unite4:good and Variety have announced additional honorees at this year’s unite4:humanity event.

Martin Scorsese will receive the Variety Creative Conscience award for his work with The Film Foundation, a nonprofit org he established dedicated to protecting and preserving motion picture history by providing annual support for preservation and restoration projects at the leading film archives. Scorsese’s foundation has saved more than 600 films since its inception in 1990.

President Bill Clinton is giving opening remarks at the event, held Feb. 27 on the Sony lot.

Singer and former “X Factor” star Demi Lovato will be honored with the Young Luminary award for her work in creating and supporting programs that directly and positively impact the lives of others through the Free the Children and We Day organizations.

John Sykes, president of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises, will be honored for his demonstration of philanthropic leadership in the business of media and entertainment. Sykes has co-produced some of the industry’s most recognizable benefit concerts including, “12-12-12” (A Concert for Sandy Relief) and “The Concert for New York City” (9/11 benefit) with Harvey Weinstein and  James Dolan.

They will join previously announced honorees Alicia Keys, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Selena Gomez along with five everyday heroes who will also be presented with the Inspiration Award by special guest Wilmer Valderrama.
