Variety has promoted Donna Pennestri to associate publisher, while sales vets Millie Chiavelli and Dawn Allen have also been elevated to expanded roles.

Pennestri fills the post vacated in late 2012 when Michelle Sobrino was upped to publisher following Penske Media Corporation’s acquisition of Variety. She continues to lead West Coast television advertising efforts, and will work with various other verticals and help develop marketing initiatives for the brand.

Based in Gotham, Chiavelli will serve as veep of sales and partnerships for PMC. She will continue to drive television and consumer advertising strategies for Variety, and oversee consumer sales for PMC brands TV Line and Hollywood Life.

Allen has been upped to VP of film and talent, and will work with other verticals to help manage growth.

“Donna, Millie and Dawn are stellar executives who have been a major part of Variety‘s growth during the past year,” Sobrino said. “Their relationships and connections in our industry are second to none. These promotions are well deserved.”

Pennestri has risen through the sales ranks since coming to Variety in 2000. Chiavelli joined in 2008; Allen signed on in 2006.
