The Real Estalker Joins Variety as Editor of New ‘Dirt’ Real Estate Section

Variety has hired Mark David, aka the Real Estalker, as the publication’s real estate editor. David’s fun and juicy Real Estalker column will serve as the centerpiece for Variety‘s newly-launched Dirt section, which debuts today on Variety.com and in the weekly magazine beginning June 24.

Enlisting the voice of the mysterious and sometimes acid-tongued “Your Mama,” David will provide up-to-the-minute news on high-end industry and celebrity-centric real estate transactions across the country. Real Estalker will feed the voracious appetite of today’s entertainment industry and media figures with glimpses into the lifestyles of the rich and famous, focused on major selling points and property values.

For anyone familiar with David’s Real Estalker blog, which he founded in late 2006, Your Mama is not beyond snarking about poor decor choices and spilling intimate details of why certain individuals might be selling or moving.

“I couldn’t be more excited and gratified to dish celebrity real estate dirt alongside the top notch team of showbiz reporters at Variety,” said the Real Estalker, Mark David.

The Real Estalker is meant to entertain above all else, and will bring a new boldness, energy and voice to Variety‘s long-standing coverage of the entertainment real estate market. The addition of Real Estalker marks yet another significant step in Variety‘s rebranding as the industry’s leading source of news and analysis in print and online since it was acquired by Penske Media Corporation in October 2012.

“There are very few people in Hollywood who aren’t keenly interested in high-profile real estate transactions,” said Variety‘s editors-in-chief Claudia Eller and Andrew Wallenstein. “And there’s no one who has better intel, insights and a more distinctive voice on the subject than Mark David. We are thrilled that he has joined our Variety family.”
