NFL star quarterback Cam Newton suffered two fractured vertebrae in a car accident Tuesday afternoon in Charlotte, NC.

“Further testing revealed that Cam Newton has two transverse process fractures in his lower back and no further internal injuries,” the Carolina Panthers said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

Newton, who could be done for the season, is listed in fair condition at the Carolinas Medical Center.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. ET, Newton was involved in a two-car accident that saw his vehicle flip three times, according to published reports. The driver of the other vehicle was also listed in fair condition.

A local photographer posted photos of the crash as well as Newton being loaded onto a stretcher.
