BAFTA/LA Names Nigel Daly Chairman of Board

Kolar, Walton to take over deputy chairs

Nigel Daly was elected as the chair of the board of BAFTA/LA for 2014, with Deborah Kolar and Brian Walton serving as deputy chairs. Paul Steinke will take over as treasurer with Beverley Ward as secretary. Donald Haber will continue as executive director and chief operating officer, a post he has held since 2010.

New board members Philip Ashcroft, Kieran Breen, Katherine Haber, Kolar, Sandro Monetti, Julia Verdin, Brian Walton, Beverley Ward and Bumble Ward will serve on the board of directors for a two-year term, which began Jan. 1.

Continuing with the second year of their two-year term are board members Daly, Gary Dartnall, Bryony Foster, Paul Heller, James Knight, Vivian Mayer, Kara Miller, Steinke and Rosalie Swedlin.

Board members are elected by voters of the BAFTA/Los Angeles Membership and will work with its staff over the next two years on its programs, events and initiatives as well as overall operations.

In a statement released Thursday, Daly discussed BAFTA’s presence in Los Angeles and what he hopes to accomplish during his tenure as chair of the board.

“BAFTA has an impressive track-record in Los Angeles including our commitment to education and the support of emerging talents, our important community outreach work, and celebrating excellence at our high-profile Britannia Awards and flagship tea parties,” Daly said. “I also look forward to playing a more strategic part in continuing the link between the L.A. and the U.K. film industries, which has never been stronger,” he continued.

This year’s outgiong members include Rob Bagshaw, Nigel Lythgoe, Rebecca Segal and Nigel Sinclair.
