HONG KONG — Wayne Borg has been appointed as managing director of Fox Studios Australia.

A former Universal executive in London, Borg was until December chief commercial officer of Abu Dhabi’s media and production hub twofour54.

A native of Sydney, Borg replaces Nancy Romano, who left the studios at the end of the year.
Borg held the twofour54 post for six years with a remit that at the end included the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and Media Summit, Tropfest Arabia, the training academy and production and broadcast facilities.

His family made the move back from the Middle East to Australia earlier in 2013.

He joined Universal Pictures International in 2000 as with responsibility for Australia/NZ. In 2003, he was promoted to VP for Latin America and Asia Pacific and moved to London.

The studios include 8 sound stages, post-production facilities and are home to some 60 indie production outfits.
