Fox drama “Sleepy Hollow,” which bowed with impressive numbers last Monday, also was an especially big gainer in early DVR playback, according to Nielsen.

The new show from 20th Century Fox Television, inspired by the tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horsemen, averaged a 3.5 same-night rating in the adults 18-49 demo to become the net’s biggest fall drama premiere since “Standoff” in 2006. Its premiere then added a big 1.5 ratings points (or 43%) to its total thanks to DVR playback done on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The 5.0 rating puts “Sleepy Hollow” comfortably above the 4.3 achieved earlier this year in Live+3 by both Fox’s “The Following” (from a 3.2 for its same-night rating in January) and CBS’ “Under the Dome” (rising from its premiere same-night score of 3.3 in June).

Two seasons ago, Fox’s top new new dramas in L3 were “Terra Nova” (4.1) and “Alcatraz” (4.0).

“Sleepy Hollow” will face tougher competition for eyeballs on Monday nights starting tomorrow with the premieres of NBC’s “The Voice” and CBS’ comedies.
