Actor Martin Cassidy Dies at 75

Martin Cassidy, who acted and sang in theater, on television and in feature films, died in Los Angeles on August 26 following a prolonged illness. He was 75.
The handsome Irish tenor began his career Off Broadway in plays and musicals such as “Red Roses for Me,” “River Wind” and “Little Mary Sunshine” and as a leading man playing James Joyce in “James Joyce’s Dubliners”; he also toured with “That Championship Season” and “The Great White Hope.”
He was connected with New York’s Actor’s Playhouse and Roundabout Theater, Loretto-Hilton Repertory in St Louis and the Washington Theater Club in D.C.
Following a lead in the TV miniseries “The Dain Curse,” he moved to Los Angeles and appeared in primetime shows including “Falcon Crest,” “Knots Landing,” “Matlock,” “NYPD Blue,” “Dallas,” “ER,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and HBO’s “1st & Ten,” as well as daytime soaps such as “All My Children” and “The Young and the Restless.” His feature-film credits include “Halloween III.” A native of Manhattan’s Yorkville neighborhood, Cassidy was a member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, stage and casting director Alice Cassidy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amanda Foundation. A celebration of his life is in the planning stages. For further information contact: bowersthomas@gmail.com.
