VH1, Travel Channel Offer Renewals

'Hit the Floor,' 'Bizarre Foods America' among the crop of shows renewed by the cablers

VH1 has renewed summer scripted series “Hit the Floor” for a second season.

Series, which centers on the world of pro basketball dancers, currently ranks as the top cable show in its Monday night timeslot among adults 18-49, and has performed well on social media as one of the top tweeted programs last week.

Hit the Floor” was created by James LaRosa and is exec produced by LaRosa along with Maggie Malina, Bryan Johnson and The Film Syndicate.

Travel Channel also offered new seasons to several of its popular series today.

Andrew Zimmern’s “Bizarre Foods America” and “The Dead Files” have been renewed for fifth seasons. “Toy Hunter” and “Trip Flip” received third season orders. Travel Channel has also tacked on an additional six episodes to “Airport 24/7: Miami’s” current second season, which extends its run through August.

Additionally, Travel has greenlit three new series: “Sturgis: 24/7,” “Netherworld” and “Celebrity Layover.” Descriptions of the new series are listed below.

 

“STURGIS: 24/7 ” (8 x 60) covers the 73rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and follows a few of the most standout occurrences that take place in a normally sleepy town.  From bike builders to biker babes, Sturgis Lawmen to Sturgis Virgins, tattoo shops to the largest biker bar in the world – this series is an around-the-clock chronology of the most outrageous party on the planet.  Produced by Big Fish Entertainment with Travel Channel’s David E. Gerber as Executive Producer.

 

“NETHERWORLD” (1 x 60) Investigator Zak Bagans explores one of the world’s most mysterious and iconic locations – The Catacombs of Paris.  In this special, his mission is to explore the history, the culture and the mysteries behind this eerie underground graveyard, as it relates to the most important questions of life and death. Produced by MY Tupelo Entertainment with Travel Channel’s Daniel A. Schwartz as Executive Producer.

 

“CELEBRITY LAYOVER ” (6 x 30)  features a different celebrity taking on the place in the world they know and love most, sharing secret hot spots, exclusive know-how and personal insights.  Produced by Marc Summers Productions with Travel Channel’s Daniel A. Schwartz as Executive Producer.
