USA Renews ‘Covert Affairs’ for Fifth Season

NBCUniversal’s USA cabler said it would pick up a fifth season of spy drama “Covert Affairs” that will consist of 16 episodes.

The  drama series stars  Piper Perabo  as Annie Walker, a young CIA operative whose exceptional linguistic skills  make her valuable to the government agency. USA said the series was one of the ten most-watched scripted cable series this summer, notching  about 3.96 milloin total viewers.

In a prepared statement, USA Network president Chris McCumber said the series “continues to be a cornerstone in our line-up of USA’s original signature dramas.”

The series’ fourth season continues Oct. 17 at 10 p.m. , following the season premiere of “White Collar.” The fourth-season finale is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21.

“Covert Affairs” is from Universal Cable Productions, and  was created, written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, It is executive produced by Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein through Hypnotic.  Stephen Kay and Sean Ryerson  also serve as executive producers.
