Univision, Penske Media Corp. Team for Multiplatform Entertainment News

PMC to produce Hollywood-focused segment for Spanish-language giant's 'Primer Impacto' newsmag

Univision News and Penske Media Corp., parent company of Variety, have pacted to create a co-branded multiplatform entertainment segment for the Spanish-language network’s “Primer Impacto” newsmagazine that airs in the U.S. and Latin America.

The “Variety en Primer Impacto” segment is now available across all Univision’s broadcast and digital platforms, highlighting the day’s most important entertainment news in Spanish with a focus on prominent Hispanic stars and newsmakers.

Variety’s reputation in the world of show business news and Univision’s unique understanding of the Hispanic audience guarantees a first-rate offering that gives our viewers unparalleled access – on air, online and on mobile– to the lives and careers of their favorite Hispanic celebrities in the Hollywood film and television industries,” said Isaac Lee, president of Univision News. “In addition, this groundbreaking alliance of our two powerful brands offers advertisers new and exciting opportunities for reaching Univision’s highly engaged audience — the fastest growing consumer segment in the U.S.”

“Variety en Primer Impacto” is produced by PMC out of its Los Angeles studios. PMC’s Michael Davis and “Primer Impacto’s” Pilar Campos are exec producers.

“PMC’s constellation of multi-platform entertainment brands continues to be a leader in entertainment news. And to align our Variety brand with Univision and their leading news program ‘Primer Impacto’ is the perfect alliance for targeting this critical growth demographic,” said Jay Penske, PMC founder and CEO.
