VH1 has appointed Susan Levison to lead its programming division.
As exec veep of original programming and production for the Viacom cabler, Levison will oversee teams on both the East and West Coast, along with celeb talent development. She will be based in Los Angeles.
“Susan’s proven expertise in crafting engaging stories with strong characters in reality formats and scripted dramas and comedies makes her a perfect match for VH1 and our successful mix of music, pop culture, humor and nostalgia programming,” said VH1 prexy Tom Calderone, to whom Levison will report. “Susan is a highly respected and successful executive, having earned a stellar reputation in the creative community with both talent and producers, and we’re happy to welcome her to the VH1 family.”
Levison arrives at VH1 from FishBowl Worldwide Media, where she served as exec VP and head of creative affairs and handled shows including Bravo’s “Toned Up,” TruTV’s “Upload With Shaquille O’Neal” and Fuse’s “Off beat.”
Levison has also led comedy development at Fox and was vice prez of drama development at the broadcast net
