Sony Pictures Television has optioned the script and pilot presentation of single-camera comedy “Half,” a project that hyphenate Matt Angel financed on Kickstarter.
Based on a true story, “Half” focuses on a 13-year-old girl conceived through artificial insemination, who convinces her dysfunctional family to help her search for all of her half siblings.
Angel wrote “Half” and then produced and directed after raising $28,000 in his 2011 Kickstarter campaign. The project had 203 backers, with the top individual contribution $1,000.
Angel began his career as in actor in shows for Disney, Nickelodeon and the Hub including “Victorious” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” before moving onto more recent guest roles on such series as “CSI: NY,” and “Necessary Roughness.”
Angel’s father Dan, whose past credits include “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour” and Hub series “Dan vs.,” is exec producing.
Both Angels are repped by APA, along with attorneys Adam Kaller (Matt) and Bob Myman (Dan).
