Shonda Rhimes to Release Memoir in 2015

The prolific showrunner will explore her personal life as a single mother in the book

As if Shonda Rhimes didn’t have enough writing to do with “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” going strong on ABC, the TV juggernaut has inked a book deal with Simon & Schuster to publish a memoir in 2015.

Book will follow Rhimes’ decision to build a family before her Hollywood career took off and the challenges that have emerged as she balances parenting with her professional success.

“Simon and Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal as I am clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom,” said Rhimes, whose book will offer inspiration and advice along with tales from her personal life. “But I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother and as a working mother and as a sleepless mother and as a dating mother. And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I’m going to write about that and hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”

In addition to creating and acting as showrunner on current sudsy primetime dramas “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” Rhimes also created “Private Practice.”
