Revolt TV has arrived, and its first stop was the home of one of hip hop’s most influential artists.
Sean Combs threw on his classic Puff Daddy moniker one more time to launch the music cable network last night. Staying true to the cabler’s promise of live programming, Combs offered live inspirational words to those tuning into the new channel for the first time from the steps of the childhood home of the late Notorious B.I.G.
“The revolution will be televised,” Combs said while standing on the stoop of Biggie’s former residence in Gotham. “Biggie and I had this dream. We set off on a journey together. He was my partner. He was fearless. He inspires me. And today, Biggie will help to launch REVOLT. Today, that dream becomes a reality…This is not my network, this is your network.”
Revolt TV flipped the switch at 8:00 PM ET on Oct. 21 with Combs’ intro, and followed it up by playing the music video for iconic Biggie song, “Juicy.”
New channel is carried by Comcast’s Xfinity TV and Time Warner Cable. Revolt has been designed as a multimedia platform with an emphasis on music programming, live content and social media, and distribution in urban markets has been said to be key.
