‘Ricki Lake Show’ canceled

Twentieth TV says talker never gained traction in daytime

“The Ricki Lake Show” is no more.

Twentieth Television has announced that the daytime talker has been canceled, though episodes already shot will continue to air for the next several weeks.

Series never received much ratings traction in its daytime slots in stations around the country. The only talkers that hvae debuted in the fall and are performing well is Disney’s “Katie,” starring former “Today” co-host Katie Couric, and “Steve Harvey.”

No decision has yet been made on the future of CBS Television Distribution’s “The Jeff Probst Show,” which has also had some ratings woes.

Season to date, “Ricki Lake” averaged a 0.7 household rating, the same as “Jeff Probst.” “Katie” is tops with a 1.9 with “Steve Harvey” coming in second at 1.4.

“While we are proud of the topics the program tackled, including childhood obesity, life after the military, divorce and addiction, we were simply not able to breakthrough the crowded talkshow marketplace,” said Stephen Brown, Twentieth’s exec VP of programming and development.
