NBC is promoting Doug Vaughan to executive VP of specials and late-night programming.

In addition to the roster of Peacock late-night shows he already oversees, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” will be added to his portfolio. In addition, he will serve as a liaison between the news and entertainment divisions.

Previously senior VP of specials and late night, Vaughan counts to his credit recent high-profile programming including the Golden Globes and Hurricane Sandy telethon.

“Doug is in a league of his own when it comes to putting together and nurturing NBC’s entertaining and successful brand of specials,” said Paul Telegedy, president of alternative and late-night programming, to whom Vaughan will continue to report.

Vaughan has held various roles at NBC since 1993, where he started as a producer on “Today.”
