NBC Orders ‘Siberia’ Drama for Summer Run

Series from Sierra/Engine TV and Infinity Films to bow July 1

NBC Orders 'Siberia' Drama Summer Run

NBC is sneaking another scripted series onto its summer slate with the pickup of drama “Siberia” from Sierra/Engine Television and Michael Ohoven’s Infinity Films.

Drama series revolves around participants in a “Survivor”-esque reality show who grapple with strange events that are not part of the show. Series will bow July 1 in the 10 p.m. berth.

“Siberia” is exec produced by Ohoven, Exec producers are Ohoven, Slava Jakovleff and Sierra/Engine’s Chris Philip.

“The concept of survival, when mysterious elements are at play, makes for a compelling show,” said Jeff Bader, prexy of program planning, strategy and research for NBC Entertainment. “We believe a scripted series that offers an insightful behind-the-scenes view of how a reality concept comes together — especially when things don’t go according to plan — will connect with our audience in a very satisfying way.”

Sierra/Engine will shop the series to international buyers this week during the L.A. Screenings gatherings. The shingle also reps the upcoming NBC pirate drama “Crossbones.”
