Mini will focus on the notable people, inventions and decisions of that decade, and will be produced by Nutopia, the creative force behind “The ’80s.”
“Similar to ‘The ’80s: The Decade That Made Us,’ our goal is to create the defining biography of another generation as told through unexpected game changers, history makers, world leaders and entertainers of the ’90s,” said Alan Eyres, senior veep of programming and development.
He added: “Nutopia proved to be an amazing creative partner and we want to recreate the success on the next groundbreaking, cinematic special event. And maybe I will grow out my ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ sideburns again.”
Cabler plans to debut “The ’90s” globally next year, in 171 countries and 46 languages.
Jane Root and Peter Lovering will exec produce “The ’90s” for Nutopia. For Nat Geo, Erik Nelson is exec producer.
